Yvan Muller continues to dominate the current Championship following a splendid performance at the well known Austrian track of Salzburgring at the weekend.

Muller arguably one of the strongest competitors over the past few years at the WTCC, managed a 3rd place on the first race and a 2nd in race two picking up valuable points and an even bigger distance in the Championship.  Muller now leads the Championship with 198 points followed by Tarquini with 118 points and James Nash now an overall third with 108 points.

However the star of the weekend was undoubtedly James Nash of the Bamboo Engineering team.  Nash managed a meritorious 2nd place in Race 1, closely following the winner Michel Nykjaer, and further improved with his first ever win at WTCC in Race 2.  After the race a delighted James Nash expressed his happiness and gratitude to his team for the great work throughout the weekend and described his win as a great confidence booster.

Meanwhile as a result of his two podiums James Nash is now also leading the YOKOHAMA trophy and he is closely followed by Michel Nykjaer and Alex Macdowall.

Also at Salzburgring a very worthy initiative to help Children with Cancer was organised by YOKOHAMA Switzerland and WTCC Driver Fredy Barth who in partnership entertained a group of youngsters affected by the illness.  They were treated to an exciting weekend of racing and enjoyed the authentic VIP treatment at the Japanese Tyre Manufacturer’s hospitality area.  “The kids were very happy and excited with the experience and we are happy that we have been able to provide this for them” said YOKOHAMA’s European Motorsport Manager Farid Al-Samarrai.
