YOKOHAMA at ERC Rally Ypres

Andreas Aigner of the Austrian Stohl racing team continues leading the Production category at the European Rally Championship after the weekend’s racing at the GEKO Ypres Rally in Belgium.

With a Subaru Impreza STI R4 on YOKOHAMA tyres Andreas Aigner was looking to win his class up and until the special stage 10, when as a result of the extremely muddy and wet conditions he went off the road in a forest passage and hit a tree with the back of the car.  After intense activity by his team to bring him back to the racing and make the necessary repairs he continued only to find additional mishaps along the road which however did not stop him from achieving a very good 4th place in the Production Car Cup and an overall 11th.

The results at Ypres however, actually reinforces Aigner’s category Championship challenge.  He ranks at the top with 99 points, an advantage of 25 points over the second qualified Germain Bonnefis from France on 74 points.

Meanwhile Hungarian Rally driver Andras Hadik, whose rallying career started when he was eighteen and now spans 20 years, also enjoyed success at the Ypres Rally with a 2nd place in the Production class and a very good 8th overall.

Hadik on a Subaru Impreza and on YOKOHAMA Tyres simultaneously competes in the Hungarian and Slovakian rally Championship and has this year decided to alternate also with the ERC.  His plan includes participating in four or five ERC events.  In addition to being a multiple categories Champion Hadik’s greatest achievement so far was in 2009 when he became absolute Hungarian Rally Champion.  Following the podium celebrations Hadik thanked his Team and emphasised the superb assistance and guidance provided by the YOKOHAMA Motorsports support team.

The European Rally Championship will resume in Romania on the 25th – 27th July 2013 with the Sibiu Rally.
