Andreas Aigner, the recently crowned Production Cup Champion at the European Rally Championship this season will be participating at the ERC International rallye du Valais which starts today and runs till Saturday in Switzerland.

With the well earned title secured, Aigner and his support team from Stohl racing and the YOKOHAMA Motorsports support team will be focusing on further development work for the Japanese tyre manufacturer and season’s tyre partner YOKOHAMA.

Aigner, who will compete for the very first time in Valais explained that although it will be a new experience, he is well acquainted with the long rally having spoken to many drivers experienced with it and is looking forward to the exciting stages ahead on his Stohl Racing Subaru Impreza R4 STI.

“With its 284 kilometres the main target is to test the new YOKOHAMA tyres on a completely different surface than it was in Sanremo.  It was hot and abrasive Tarmac there and in Switzerland we have a totally different environment in this south west mountainous region.  We will see how the tyres are working.  In difficult conditions on stages under 15 kilometres it’s possible to be 1.2 seconds per kilometre off the Super 2000 cars but when the stages are longer and with more turns it’s difficult to be that close.” He told members of the media recently.
