15 Oct 2013

Following on from the exciting results at the FIA European Rally Championship Sanremo weekend activity, with the triumph of Andreas Aigner as Champion of the Production Car category, it was double exciting for the winner of the Danish “Young mechanic of the year” award Ms Carina Christensen from Denmark.  21 year old Carina, who has recently completed a 4 year mechanic’s training course, and who would like to specialise in the field of Motorsports, was guest from DASU – Dansk Automobil Sports Union and YOKOHAMA.  At Sanremo she was able to enjoy first hand experiences in the competitive field by taking every opportunity to learn from the seasoned professionals of the Stohl racing team and the YOKOHAMA Motorsports support team.

Kitted out in YOKOHAMA Motorsports team clothes, Carina joined both days of racing and assisted at the service park and had some training in tyre fitting, technical explanations and briefings on the different race compounds provided by YOKOHAMA to the winning Stohl racing team and also met Andreas Aigner and Japanese veteran rally driver Toshi Arai.

In addition to this Carina was interviewed about her experience on location through Rally Radio as well as Eurosport and was also able to witness some of the stages at Sanremo.  Italian generosity was also in abundance as she was invited to assist the Marco Cavigioli racing team, who were also participating in the legends race.

Throughout the experience Carina was followed by Journalist Anne Gooseman from the Danish Industry publication “Metalbladet” and “Dansk Metal” industry representative Ms Majken Kidmose.

Among the many additional highlights for Carina were posing for pictures with Andreas Aigner and Toshi Arai, and as team member when the celebrations started at the podium together with Andreas Aigner and Barbara Watzl and the whole support team.

Meanwhile David Oliva, responsible for communications for YOKOHAMA Europe also in attendance at Sanremo expressed his gratitude to the Stohl racing team and YOKOHAMA Motorsports support team for the kindness shown to Carina and to Marco Cavigioli racing for providing the opportunity to Carina to experience top level professional motorsports and wished her every success in her future career.
