End of FIA WTCC Season in Macau
17 Nov 2014

The end of the FIA WTCC Season took place in Macau over the past weekend.  Although no surprises were to be had in terms of the final standings with José María López already crowned Champion there was still interest in the battle for the spoils. This was clarified with exciting races which placed Yvan Muller in second place followed by Sebastien Loeb in third.

An impressive lights to flag victory from “Pechito” Lopez on his first ever race in Macau, left everyone without a doubt of the fact that he has truly dominated throughout the Championship and will be the one to beat next season.  However Macau was more than the clear domination of Citroen. The popular crowd favourite Norbert Michelisz also proved his competitive and driving skills managing to secure a formidable 4th place in the overall Championship following a fantastic weekend in Macau and squeezing past Thiago Monteiro and Gabriele Tarquini in the final table.

Macau was generous to many. Former World Champion Rob Huff also had a brilliant race 2, keeping the formidable Yvan Muller at bay, making it 7 personal wins in 20 races at Macau, and in fact brightens the faces of Lada on their 2nd win in this first season as a full member of the FIA WTCC family.

“YOKOHAMA as Official Tyre supplier for the FIA World Touring Car Championship is very satisfied with the performance of our tyres throughout the season and we would like to congratulate all drivers for a splendid effort throughout and particularly to Citroen and the new Champion José María López who on his first full season has performed impeccably” added David Oliva, responsible for Yokohama Europe communications.

In the manufacturers championship Citroen topped the table with an overwhelming 1003 points followed by Honda with 703 and Lada with 425.
