Good Results for YOKOHAMA cars at 24hr Qualifying race
14 Apr 2015

The 24hr Qualifying Race at the Nürburgring Nordschleife took place at the weekend with a good degree of success for YOKOHAMA clad cars.

The qualifying race was held during a wet weekend which although not conducive to the fastest lap times, nevertheless brought very respectable times from some of the participants.

The British WTCC driver Tom Chilton, getting a valuable acquaintance with the track before he returns on the 16th May with the World Touring Car Championship, made a very good race with a meritorious 12th place overall and first in SP4T class as part of the Rotek Racing team with Robb Holland and David Thilenius on an AUDI TT RS.  Good results were also obtained by the Pixum Team Adrenalin Motorsport who managed a V5 class win and an overall 29th place on a BMW Z4 3.0si.  The third YOKOHAMA clad vehicle also from Rotek Racing was a BMW Z4, which managed a 5th in V5 class and an overall 55th place.

The decision to go ahead with the race had been previously debated extensively by the organisers, ADAC Nordrhein, the teams and drivers to ensure the green light was given following the tragic fatal accident at the Nurburgring recently.

A spokesman for the organisers stated it was a good opportunity to provide drivers who are interested in taking part in the 24hr race to gather Nordschleife experience as well as extensively testing of some of the changes which have been put in place to ensure the excitement and thrills of motor racing at the legendary track can continue within a high degree of safety.  The special measures included to reduce the performance for some vehicle classes as well as a ‘speed limit’ in specific sections of the track among other measures which include some limitation in several public viewing areas.
