Spanish dominate SEAT LEON Eurocup
11 May 2015

The young Spanish driver from Malaga Fran Rueda, racing for the Monlau team, managed another victory in the SEAT LEON Eurocup International series which has the Japanese tyre manufacturer YOKOHAMA as official tyre supplier.

This time the Portuguese circuit of Estoril hosted the second round of the Championship under a scorching sun and 30 degrees heat which made strategy and tyre preservation an important consideration for all drivers.

Having achieved 7th place on Saturday’s race 1, Rueda had to ensure he was in top form on Sunday’s race 2 to take advantage of the reverse grid.  This he did with a very convincing margin which placed him 7 seconds ahead of the second qualified, Frenchman Julien Briche and 17 seconds from third qualified Pol Rosell. Rueda is now 2nd in the overall classification, only 5 points behind current Championship leader Rosell.

It was Pol Rossel (Baporo Motorsport) himself who had won the first race a day earlier and with a significant margin ahead of the talented Norwegian Stian Paulsen, and the current leader in the Ladies Trophy Lucile Cypriano from France.

Been as close as it is at the top, after two rounds of the SEAT LEON Eurocup, there are five drivers within a narrow margin with real chances of winning.  The next race will be held at the legendary race track in Silverstone, UK, on the 6th & 7th June 2015.
