SEAT LEON Eurocup Battle intensifies
07 Jun 2016

The battle for glory in the SEAT Leon Eurocup has intensified following an exciting racing weekend at the legendary Paul Ricard circuit. The International series which has YOKOHAMA as exclusive tyre partner delighted fans at the weekend with thrills and speed and tough competitors.

The Dutch driver Niels Langeveld was heads above the rest with two victories which catapulted him as new overall leader of the SEAT Leon Eurocup. Following a pole position qualifier in which the Dutchman flew around the racetrack on Saturday, Sunday’s race was however, much harder to win.

Setting off from 10th on the grid and with his strong competitors not willing to make it easy for him, the Baporo Motorsport driver set a very fast pace from the outset and managed to keep his cool also, when there was a need for him to be more conservative in some laps. With his steady pace Langeveld eventually charged through the pack to cross the chequered flag, once more in first place.

On Saturday, it was Mikel Azcona in second place, (PCR Sport) and Alex Morgan in third (Baporo Motorsport) who followed Langeveld onto the podium.

On Sunday however, it was Julién Briché (JSB Competition) and Lucile Cypriano (JSB Competition) who classified second and third respectively.

Former leader of the Eurocup, the Norwegian Stian Paulsen, had to settle for two, 5th places which although forcing him to second place, is still within a stone’s throw and with a good performance could recover the top of the table at Mugello, Italy in the next race.

In the series standings Niels Langeveld (Baporo Motorsport) heads the way with 108 points and is chased by Stian Paulsen (Stian Paulsen Racing) with 105 and Spaniard Mikel Azcona (PCR Sport) is third with 92 points. The ‘Ladies Trophy’ is strongly led by Lucile Cypriano with 50 points.
