Macau GP - Macau Road Sport Race
16 Nov 2013

Finally, there are two more days to go for the 60th Anniversary Macau Grand Prix Final. Macau was covered with clear skies like yesterday. Suncity Group Macau Road Sport Challenge started at 09:50 am and City of Dreams Macau GT Cup Qualifying 2 started at 12:50 pm.

-       Suncity Group Macau Road Sport Challenge

Suncity Group Macau Road Sport Challenge Formation Lap started at 09:50 am.

YOKOHAMA tyre user Tatsuya TANIGAWA started the Final challenge consisting of 10 laps from the front row as he drove Mazda RX-8 at 09:55 am.

TANIGAWA's rival machine with a 4WD rapid acceleration drove ahead of Tatsuya TANIGAWA immediately after the start and he finished his opening lap in third. Taking advantage of the fast speed from the rapid corner by the seaside, TANIGAWA attempted to overtake the second position at a high speed driving in the straight end of the Lisboa Corner but failed. He then carried on towards the mountain side. He continued in third place without making any position changes for several laps when a number of machines crashed at the Fisherman's Bend following the top group just as they entered their 6th lap.

A safety car cut into the course to stop the race, however it lead the race into the 9th lap, forcing the marshal to forfeit the race. Tatsuya TANIGAWA claimed third place as a result.

-       City of Dreams Macau GT Cup

City of Dreams Macau GT Cup had the Qualifying 2 to determine the grid for the Final tomorrow. The Qualifying 2 started from 12:50 pm for a twenty minute session. YOKOHAMA tyre user Maro ENGEL (Mercedes SLS AMG GT3) earned second grid at the Qualifying 2. He made a vigorous attempt from the first timed lap and marked 2'20"367 which is faster than his times in the Qualifying 2 yesterday. He jumped up to the fastest lap time with 2'19"659 on the second lap and took the lead.

Immediately after that, a stopped machine was found by the mountain side and a red flag was flashed to stop the race. After the race resumed with 9'36" left to the end, he clipped his own record to 2'18"651. No one could break this record and Maro ENGEL won the Pole Position for tomorrow's Final.
